Hamstring Strain & Tendinopathy Treatment in Fort Lauderdale
The defining problem with hamstring injuries isn't the first strain — it's the re-injury. Hamstring strains have among the highest recurrence rates in sport, and the most common reason is rehab that stopped at "pain-free jogging" instead of progressing to the thing that injured it: high-speed running and end-range strength. At Pure Kinetics, hamstring rehab runs all the way to sprint speed, because that's where hamstrings live.
Two different hamstring problems
Acute strains — the mid-sprint grab or the stretch-position pull. Rehab is staged: early protected loading (not rest), progressive strengthening through range (eccentric work such as Nordic curl progressions has strong supporting research), then a graded running progression back to full speed.
High (proximal) hamstring tendinopathy — the stubborn ache right at the sit bone, aggravated by sitting, driving, hills, and speed work. Common in runners; slow to resolve without a proper loading plan. Care combines progressive tendon loading with adjunct treatments — dry needling, soft-tissue work, and shockwave therapy for persistent cases.
What makes our approach different
Rehab and performance training under one roof means your return-to-sprint progression is coached, not handed to you as a printout. Dr. Blake Pennock, DC, CSCS programs the strength and speed work as part of care — and if you're a runner or field-sport athlete, the plan is built around your season, not around a generic protocol.
Common questions
How long until I can play / sprint again? Depends on strain grade and location — commonly a few weeks for milder strains, longer for higher-grade or tendon-involved injuries. What we won't do is clear you at "feels fine jogging," because that's how the re-injury cycle starts.
Why does my hamstring keep re-pulling every season? Usually because each rehab ended before end-range and high-speed strength were rebuilt, so every season starts with a deficit. Breaking that cycle is the explicit goal of the program.
Is sitting making my high hamstring pain worse? It commonly aggravates proximal hamstring tendinopathy (direct pressure on the tendon). We'll cover practical modifications while the loading program does its work.
