Longevity Training in Fort Lauderdale: Strong Past 40, 50, and Beyond
The most evidence-backed "longevity protocol" isn't exotic — it's progressive strength training, maintained for decades. Muscle mass, strength, and power all decline with age (power fastest of all), and they're among the strongest modifiable predictors of how well you function later in life. Longevity Training at Pure Kinetics is a coached program built on that evidence: real strength work, power development, and capacity training — dosed for a 40-, 50-, or 60-year-old body, programmed by Dr. Blake Pennock, DC, CSCS.
What longevity training means here (and what it doesn't)
It doesn't mean light dumbbells and balance pads. It means the same principles used with athletes — progressive overload, power work, structured recovery — applied with the judgment an older body deserves:
- Strength — the foundation: squat, hinge, push, pull, carry patterns loaded progressively
- Power — trained deliberately, because it declines roughly twice as fast as strength with age
- Capacity — conditioning that supports the sports, travel, and life you actually want
- Joint-honest programming — decades of training (or of desk work) leave fingerprints; exercises are selected and modified around your history, not despite it
Why do it in a rehab-integrated facility
Training in your 40s–60s means training around a history: the old shoulder, the cranky knee, the back that goes twice a year. Pure Kinetics is also a sports rehab clinic — so a flare-up is handled in-house (assessment, hands-on care, shockwave or TECAR when indicated) and your program adapts the same week. Fewer restarts is the entire game in long-term training: consistency beats intensity over decades.
Common questions
Is it too late to start strength training at 50 or 60?
No — research shows meaningful strength and muscle gains at every age studied, including in people who start in their 60s and beyond. The starting point is an assessment, not an assumption.
Is heavy lifting safe at my age?
"Heavy" is relative and earned progressively. Loading tissue is how bones, tendons, and muscle stay resilient — the risk that grows with age is not loading them. We progress you at the pace your body demonstrates it can handle.
How is this different from regular personal training?
Programming horizon and integration. This is year-scale athletic development with rehab in the same room — not a rotating circuit workout.
