Neck Pain & Headache Treatment in Fort Lauderdale

Most neck pain — and many recurring headaches — trace back to the mechanics of the neck and upper back: how those joints move, how the surrounding muscles are working, and how many hours a day they spend in one position. That kind of problem responds well to conservative care that combines hands-on treatment with targeted exercise. That's the model at Pure Kinetics in Fort Lauderdale, led by Dr. Blake Pennock, DC, CSCS.

Headaches that start in the neck

Two common types respond particularly well to neck-focused care: cervicogenic headaches (pain referred from the upper neck joints, usually one-sided, often triggered by neck positions) and tension-type headaches (band-like pressure frequently accompanied by neck and shoulder muscle tightness). Migraines are a different condition — we can sometimes help with the neck-related triggers, but we'll be straight with you about what's ours to treat and what belongs with a physician.

What care looks like

1. Assessment — movement testing, strength testing, a headache history if that's part of your picture, and screening for anything that needs medical referral

2. Hands-on care — spinal manipulation or mobilization, dry needling, IASTM, cupping, and myofascial release as indicated

3. Corrective exercise — deep neck flexor and scapular strengthening, plus the postural capacity to handle your desk hours; this is the part that keeps results

Common questions

Is "tech neck" a real thing?

The posture itself isn't damage — but many hours in one sustained position with low strength reserves is a common driver of symptoms. The fix is capacity and variability, not a posture lecture.

Is neck manipulation safe?

Serious complications are rare, and we screen for risk factors first. Where manipulation isn't appropriate, gentler mobilization and soft-tissue approaches accomplish the goals.

When is a headache a red flag?

Sudden "worst ever" headache, headache with fever, neurological changes, or after head trauma — those need medical evaluation, not a rehab visit. Screening for this is part of the first assessment.
