Shoulder Pain Treatment in Fort Lauderdale
Most shoulder pain in active adults — rotator cuff irritation, "impingement," aching with pressing or overhead work — is a capacity problem, not structural doom. Imaging studies find rotator cuff changes in plenty of pain-free shoulders; what usually matters is whether the shoulder's strength and mechanics match what you're asking of it. Care at Pure Kinetics reflects that evidence: calm the irritated tissue, then rebuild the shoulder's capacity with progressive loading.
Shoulder problems we commonly treat
- Rotator cuff pain and tendinopathy — including gym-goers whose pressing days hurt
- "Impingement"-type pain — pain reaching overhead or behind the back
- Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) — long course, but care can help manage and restore motion
- Overhead-athlete shoulders — swimmers, throwers, racquet sports, CrossFit and HYROX athletes
- AC joint irritation — the top-of-shoulder pain of bench pressers and dip enthusiasts
What care looks like
- Assessment — where your pain is, which movements provoke it, strength testing side to side, and screening for presentations that need imaging or specialist referral (significant trauma, true weakness, night pain that won't settle)
- Hands-on care — manipulation/mobilization of the shoulder, upper back, and neck as indicated; dry needling; IASTM; cupping; myofascial release; shockwave for stubborn tendinopathy
- Progressive loading — the core of shoulder rehab: graded rotator cuff and scapular strengthening that progresses back to pressing, swimming, or throwing — not three sets of band exercises forever
Common questions
My MRI shows a rotator cuff tear. Is surgery inevitable? Not necessarily — many partial and degenerative tears do well with progressive rehab, and research comparing rehab to surgery for some tear types shows comparable outcomes. Full-thickness traumatic tears in younger patients are a different conversation. Bring your imaging; we'll be honest about which category you're in.
Should I stop lifting? Usually we modify rather than stop — adjusting angles, grips, and loads to keep you training while the shoulder rebuilds.
How long does frozen shoulder take? Longer than anyone wants — often many months through its phases. Care focuses on managing pain, maintaining what motion you have, and rebuilding as it thaws.
