Hip Pain Treatment in Fort Lauderdale
Hip pain wears many disguises — pinching in the front with squats, an ache on the outside when you walk or lie on it, deep soreness after running — and treating it well starts with figuring out which hip problem you actually have. At Pure Kinetics in Fort Lauderdale, hip care starts with an assessment that sorts that out, then pairs hands-on treatment with the strength work hips almost always need.
Hip problems we commonly treat
- Front-of-hip pinching (impingement-type pain) — common in squatters, lifters, and field-sport athletes
- Gluteal tendinopathy / outside-hip pain — the lateral ache common in runners and adults 40+, often sore lying on that side
- Deep gluteal / piriformis-type pain — buttock pain sometimes mimicking sciatica (more on sciatica here)
- Hip flexor and adductor (groin) strains — sprint and change-of-direction injuries
- The stiff, cranky hip — losing rotation and depth in training, often years into a lifting or sport career
What care looks like
- Assessment — movement and strength testing to identify the pain source and the deficits feeding it; screening for presentations needing imaging or orthopedic referral
- Hands-on care — joint mobilization, dry needling, IASTM, cupping, myofascial release as indicated; shockwave for chronic gluteal tendinopathy
- Strength work — hips respond to loading: glute and deep rotator strengthening, hinge and squat pattern rebuilding, then a graded return to your sport or training
Common questions
Is my squat pinch a mobility problem? Sometimes — but chasing mobility alone often fails, because many "tight" hips are actually weak or just anatomically built for a different stance. Assessment tells us whether to mobilize, strengthen, or adjust your setup.
My MRI mentions a labral tear — is that the end of squatting? Labral changes are common in pain-free athletic hips. Many people with labral findings do well with rehab; we'll be honest if your presentation suggests a surgical consult instead.
Why does the outside of my hip hurt when I sleep on it? That's the classic pattern of gluteal tendinopathy — compression aggravates it. Loading the tendon properly (plus a few practical modifications) is the evidence-supported path.
