Winback TECAR Therapy in Fort Lauderdale
TECAR therapy (Transfer of Energy Capacitive And Resistive) uses radiofrequency energy to gently warm tissue from within — used in sports rehab to modulate pain, support circulation, and prepare tissue for hands-on treatment and exercise. Pure Kinetics is one of the few facilities in the Fort Lauderdale area offering Winback TECAR as part of sports rehab care.
Where it fits in care
TECAR is an adjunct — a tool we layer into a rehab session, not a standalone fix. Typical uses at our clinic:
- Early-stage injuries — when tissue is too irritable for aggressive work, TECAR can help settle symptoms so active rehab starts sooner
- Muscle injuries and tightness — calves, hamstrings, quads, low back — often paired with soft-tissue work in the same session
- Stubborn tendon and joint pain — combined with progressive loading, and alongside shockwave therapy or dry needling depending on the case
- Athletes in-season — as part of keeping training-load niggles from becoming layoffs
What a session feels like
A handpiece moves over the area with a conductive cream; you feel progressive, comfortable warmth — most people find it genuinely pleasant, closer to a warm massage than a medical procedure. Sessions are short and folded into your regular visit.
Common questions
Is TECAR therapy evidence-based? The honest answer: the research base is younger and smaller than for exercise or shockwave — early studies and clinical use in European sports medicine are promising for pain and recovery support, but it's not a miracle device. That's why we use it as one tool inside an evidence-based plan built on assessment and progressive loading, never as the whole plan.
Who shouldn't get TECAR? It's avoided with pacemakers and certain implants, during pregnancy, over active cancer, and a few other situations — screening is part of your first visit.
Why haven't I heard of it? It's been common in European sports medicine and pro locker rooms for years and is only recently spreading in the US — which is why so few Fort Lauderdale clinics offer it.
